What's this for?

At the moment, this is a comment journal. I have a blogger account, which I use to comment on blogs on Blogger. I'll be writing a blog about amateur theatre - you can find that here - and commenting on a variety of blogs whose subject matter has some connection to mine. I have or will have accounts on a number of blogging services, which I will use to post those comments. I'll then post articles about the discussions I entered and some of the writing I've found.

This is one of the places where I'll post such articles. You'll be able to follow it if you wish. I will be offering subscription options, because I like to give people choices. Maybe your interest is that of somebody who wants to specifically be an active participant in the Blogger community, and if so, I'll be happy to do what I can to make your life a little easier. But, for myself, I wouldn't do that. All of those little satellite pages that will come with my main blog, like this one, will be linked to from points in my main blog, and link back to them - I'll make some reference to points I've talked more about elsewhere, and when this blog is that elsewhere, I'll be linking to the relevant posts, here. So, those who follow my main blog should have no trouble keeping up with this one, if they want to. If, on the other hand, you don't care about any of that, and don't want me to waste your time with long posts about discussions on other people's blogs - that stuff is all off of my main blog. Like I said, I like to give people choices. Nobody is going to force you to click on those links.

No personal judgment as to the merit of these choices should be read into the above. The web differs from older media in that it has offered the reader the promise of a personalized reading experience, and I feel that's a good thing. The nonlinear format of my journal is an attempt to get back to that promise. I hope that you will find it a promise well kept.
